Clachaig Steading, Nethybridge

This proposal is a conversion and extension of a small existing bothy to create a spacious four bedroom home, with independant double garage. The cluster of buildings aims to achieve a contemporary agriculture aesthetic with an emphasis on using sustainable materials such as timber and natural stone with sustainability in the design approach to increase environmental efficiency. Environmental services such as ground source heat pump and wind turbines were integral to the design.

A subservient glazed entrance between the existing and the extension allows the building form to be clearly read, distinguishing the old from the new.

The design process involved lengthy pre-application consulation with both planning and Cairngorms National Park in order to achieve a successful conclusion to Planning Permission being granted.
