Paton House, Nethybridge

Paton house is a traditional slated roof, stone building located on a quiet street and over looking the Nethy river. The client requested an imaginative extension which improved interaction with the surrounding landscape and provided a more sizeable living space.

The proposed scheme is three distinct volumes interlinked in a descending composition, stepping down towards the river. Each volume clearly defines function, the private bedroom wing remaining within the cottage, the public living space being predominently glazed and the garage/ utility space clad in timber.

Within the sun trap formed to the south west, is a hard landscaped terrace with steps leading to a soft landscaped area, and a pergola which extends the building structure to the landscape.
